Full course description
This professional learning series is designed to support new instructional coaches as they transition into their coaching roles across Canyons School District. Grounded in the CSD Instructional Coaching Framework, this course will provide coaches with the foundational knowledge, practical skills, and essential tools needed to build strong coaching relationships, facilitate effective teacher collaboration, and support instructional improvement in their schools.
Through interactive sessions, modeling, and guided practice, participants will explore core elements of instructional coaching, including coaching stances, coaching cycles, data-informed conversations, and adult learning principles.
By the end of this course, new coaches will:
Understand the components of the CSD Instructional Coaching Framework
Apply key coaching tools and protocols to support teacher growth
Practice coaching conversations using active listening and questioning strategies
Learn how to build trust and establish strong partnerships with educators
Develop a personalized action plan for implementing effective coaching cycles
Connect with a professional learning community of peers for ongoing support
